SINERGIAS SEA - Desigualdad de género en ciencia: diagnóstico y debate para el avance hacia la igualdad real

Resumen
En la sociedad actual el feminismo ha adquirido una gran relevancia, poniendo sobre la mesa cuestiones hasta ahora poco consideradas sobre desigualdad de género y promoviendo importantes debates que afectan de forma transversal a aspectos sociales fundamentales como la política, las regulaciones laborales o la economía. Pero ¿cómo se traslada la desigualdad de género al ámbito científico? ¿Hasta qué punto se reflejan en nuestro entorno laboral los factores generales de desigualdad de la sociedad? ¿Es posible que tengamos además factores propios e intrínsecos de desigualdad relacionados con la carrera científica? Y si esto es así, ¿cómo están evolucionando?, ¿son cuestiones del pasado que desaparecerán con las medidas actuales, o aún no hemos llegado al fondo de la cuestión y se necesitan nuevas y más medidas para revertirla?
En esta sinergia pretendemos abordar estas cuestiones mediante un método científico: datos, análisis, debate, discusión. Haremos un recorrido por las principales etapas de la carrera científica y analizaremos con estadísticas y análisis actuales la situación presente de desigualdad de género en ciencia y los factores que pueden estar produciéndola, así como su evolución reciente y sus perspectivas futuras. Ampliaremos el análisis de estas cuestiones con el testimonio de astrónomas que llevan años analizando este tema, y que aportarán diferentes datos sobre la situación particular de la desigualdad en la comunidad astronómica española. Abriremos un debate con todas las personas participantes, para complementar el análisis con las opiniones y experiencias de las diferentes perspectivas que construyen nuestra comunidad.
El objetivo de la sinergia es sencillo: reforzar el diagnóstico y ampliar el conocimiento general sobre la situación de desigualdad de género existente en el ámbito científico. Solo con una amplia conciencia y participación de toda la comunidad podremos avanzar de forma efectiva hacia la igualdad real de oportunidades en la carrera científica.

Summary
Feminism has acquired great relevance in today's society. New ideas on gender inequality are now under discussion generating significant debates in fundamental social aspects such as politics, labour regulations, or the economy. But how does gender inequality translate into the field of science? To what extent are the general factors of inequality in society reflected in our working environment? Is it possible that we also have our intrinsic factors of inequality related to scientific careers? And if so, how are they evolving? Will the known issues disappear with the currently applied measures, or do we need different measures?
The initial conference deals with the importance of language as a socializing factor, about its influence on stereotypes about men and women and how this affects the collective imaginary about women and science. It also addresses androcentrism in language and its consequences in terms of the prestige of the masculine and the discredit of the feminine. Finally, it analyses how to detect linguistic sexism and what are the main strategies for an efficient inclusive language.
In this synergy event, we aim to address these questions using the scientific method: data, analysis, debate, discussion. We will revise the main stages of the scientific careers to analyse the present situation of gender inequality, its factors, its recent evolution and prospects using current statistics and analysis. We will discuss all this with female astronomers that have analysed this subject. They will provide their perspectives on the particular situation of inequality in the Spanish astronomical community. An open debate among all the participants will complement the analysis with the opinions and experiences of the different perspectives that make up our community.
The aim of the synergy event is simple: to reinforce the diagnosis and to broaden the general knowledge on the current situation of gender inequality in the scientific field. We can effectively advance towards the real equality of opportunities in scientific careers only with a broad awareness and the participation of the entire community.
