Descripción/Description: 

The successful applicant is expected to undertake research activities in at least one of the following topics: Characterisation the hot plasma emission from the Milky Way center, the disk and its relations with the Galactic wind and corona; Characterisation (spectral and-or timing) of the Galactic X-ray point sources (variable and-or transients); Study of the X-ray counterparts of the sources of cosmic rays (PeVatrons).

 

The project, performed under the supervision of Dr. Gabriele Ponti, will revolve around the analysis and interpretation of X-ray data from the Chandra large survey of the central degrees of the Milky Way, the XMM Heritage program covering the central disc of the Milky Way, as well as the public eROSITA data, aimed at scanning the Milky Way disc, center, corona and halo. 

 

Applications from non-X-ray-experts are also highly encouraged.

 

The appointment will be for 2 years, with the possibility of an extension. Applicants should submit their documents including a CV, a list of publications, a brief (~1 page) description or research interests and two recommendation letters by November 30th
