Descripción/Description:

In the Department of Physics at the University of Oviedo we are establishing a task force group to focus on the statistical analysis of the high-z Herschel sources and their Magnification Bias produced by large scale structure at lower redshift. In particular, our main objectives are:

  • Updating the astrophysical assumptions needed for the theoretical background (Cross-correlation Halo model)
  • Constraining the main cosmological parameters from a “novel” independent LSS observable: the SMGs Magnification Bias.
  • Studying the evolution of the LSS mass properties thanks to the SMGs Magnification Bias.
  • Developing advance ML techniques to achieve the main Objectives.

Applications are invited for a 24 months pre-doctoral research position. The project will be carried out in collaboration with Dr. Laura Bonavera (PI), Dr. Joaquin Gonzalez-Nuevo (PI), Prof. Luigi Toffolatti and Prof. Francisco Argueso.

Please notice that due to the restricted funds we can only offer a 25 hours/week contract implying a gross monthly salary of ~1,200 euros.

The starting date of the post is Jan 2020 and the deadline for applications is Nov 22th 2019. The official call can be found here: http://www.uniovi.es/ gobiernoservicios/rrhh/convocatorias/investigacion.
Interested applicants are encouraged to contact Dr. Laura Bonavera (bonaveralaura@uniovi.es) or Dr. Joaquin Gonzalez-Nuevo (gnuevo@uniovi.es) as soon as possible.
