Descripción/Description:

Postdoctoral position at the IAA Galactic Centre Group within the IAA’s Severo Ochoa program

The Galactic Centre Group (GCG) at the IAA is dedicated to studying the stellar populations in the Nuclear Stellar Disk and Nuclear Star Cluster at the centre of the Milky Way. Our high angular resolution near infrared observations aim at exploring the structure and formation history of the Galactic Centre as well as understanding recent star formation in the central 200 pc of our galaxy. Apart from having created the benchmark imaging survey of the Galactic Centre - GALACTICNUCLEUS - we are now dedicated to creating and exploiting a precision proper motion catalogue for this region (which is not accessible to Gaia).

The successful candidate is desired to have a background in one or more of the following topics: infrared observations, high angular resolution techniques, Galactic Centre science, star formation, JWST, JVLA, VLT. The candidate should be capable of co-supervising PhD theses and have an excellent command of English.

The position can be started as soon as possible and will finish on 31/12/2026. The offer will close on 28/02/2024 or earlier if  a suitable candidate has been found.
