The Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA) welcomes pre-applications to the FCT - Individual Call to Scientific Stimulus 2020.

The Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA) welcomes pre-applications until 14th February 2021. The institute cannot guarantee the required scientific and administrative support for any pre-applications received after that date.

The Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) has issued a call for research contracts, in the context of the Stimulus to Scientific Employment which will be open from 29th January until 26th February 2021, 17:00 (Portuguese time). The positions are for up to 6 years. The gross monthly income corresponds to the salary of a Junior Researcher (level 33 - 2.134,73€), Assistant Researcher (3.201,40€), Principal Researcher (3.611,83€) or Coordinating Researcher (4.678,96€), depending on the profile of the candidate. The selection is done by FCT. Each candidate will have to select and have the support from a host institution in Portugal.

IA activities are structured around five Thematic Lines:

1. Towards the detection and characterization of other Earths
2. Towards a comprehensive study of stars
3. The assembly history of galaxies resolved in space and time
4. Unveiling the dynamics of the Universe
5. Space and Ground Systems and Technologies
