opening two positions in my group at UDP to work on accreting supermassive black holes, one for a postdoc (2 years) and the other one for a PhD student. I would be very grateful if you could pass this email along to any qualified candidates you may know. Details on both positions can be found below.

- A 2-year postdoctoral research position. The candidate is expected to have experience in the study of AGN, and familiarity with X-ray data reduction will be considered an asset. A fraction of time will be available for independent research. Deadline: January 30 2020.

- A joint PhD position with the Department of Physics and Astronomy of George Mason University (USA). The student will be expected to spend ~50-60% of her/his time in Chile. Deadline: January 15 2020.

Santiago hosts a large and vibrant scientific community working on AGN, with ~45 scientists distributed in four universities and three institutes (see ). While at UDP, successful candidates will qualify as members of the Chilean community, and will be eligible for the 10% privileged access to all telescopes in Chile, including ALMA, Gemini South, VLT, Magellan, CTIO, SOAR, La Silla, APEX, and ASTE, as well as to future facilities such as LSST.
