Descripción/Description:

The Gravitational Astronomy group at the Institut d'Estudis Espacials de Catalunya (IEEC) and Instituto de Ciencias del Espacio (ICE-CSIC) is leading the Spanish contribution to the future space-borne gravitational observatory in space, LISA (Laser Interferometer Space Antenna), an ESA mission with expected launch in 2034 aiming to detect gravitational radiation by putting three satellites in heliocentric orbit separated 2.5 million km one from each other, forming a triangle. The contribution of the team to the mission is the Data and Diagnostics subsystems, which includes the payload computer and a set of high precision environment sensors.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join the Gravitational Astronomy group at IEEC, a multidisciplinary team with experts from a wide variety of fields, such as electronics, physics, and software, and with a long-term successful expertise in the field leading the Spanish contribution to the precursor mission, LISA Pathfinder.

The selected candidate will provide support in the definition and implementation of the embedded software in charge of the postprocessing of  a novel temperature sensor based in optical metrology, in the framework of an on-going ESA contract. He/she will also contribute to the definition of the LISA Data and Diagnostics subsystems.

Our group promotes a diverse and inclusive environment and welcomes applicants regardless of age, disability, gender, nationality, race, religion or sexual orientation. We strongly encourage women and underrepresented minorities in physical sciences to apply.

Selection Criteria

  • Electronics engineering, software engineering, master or equivalent.
  • Experience in HDL (Verilog, VHDL, or similar).
  • Knowledge in embedded system programming in C language.
  • Knowledge in digital, analog and mixed electronics.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Work Location: Institut de Ciències de l’Espai (ICE), Bellaterra.

Duration: 12+ months

Documentation: Full CV, motivation letter, reference letters (if any), any relevant information that the applicant may consider appropriate to demonstrate expertise in the corresponding relevant technical fields and/or applications.

Interested candidates should send the required documentation to nofrarias@ieec.cat. The position will be open until the appropriate candidate is selected, and the selection process will start 15 days after the publication date.

The successful candidate is expected to start in late September or early October.
