Dear all,
We are pleased to announce that the Stellar Intensity Workshop 2026 will take place on 5-9 October 2026 in La Palma (Spain), organized jointly by CIEMAT and IPARCOS (UCM). The meeting will follow a similar structure to the very successful previous meetings (e.g. Columbus 2023, Porquerolles 2024, Waischenfeld 2025).
Questions to be answered within the workshop:
- What will be the potential of the next generation of Intensity Interferometers?
- Which are the technical milestones needed to achieve these objectives?
- Which parameter space/scientific topics Intensity Interferometry can complement Amplitude Interferometry?
Topics include:
- History of Stellar Intensity Interferometry (SII)
- Science exploitation of intensity interferometers, such as fundamental parameters of OB stars, fast rotators, close binaries or white dwarfs.
- Use of Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs) as SII
- Use of optical Telescopes and telescope arrays for SII
- Ultra fast photon detectors and instrumentation
- Comparison to and synergies with amplitude interferometry
- Quantum Optics with Intensity Interferometry
- Image Reconstruction & Advanced Methods
We strongly encourage anyone interested in the field to submit an abstract for either a presentation or a poster right away (up unitl June 8th). Acceptance confirmation will be done before July 1st.
Please note it was not possible to block rooms within the venue (Taburiente Hotel) and La Palma is a very touristic place. So we encourage everyone to reserve a room as early as possible. Once you register, you will receive a code for a 10% discount.
