Simulations and Software Development for New Generation Cherenkov Telescopes

The succesful candidate will join the VHE research group at Rome Astronomical Observatory (Osservatorio Astronomico di Roma - OAR) that is presently involved in MAGIC and ASTRI collaborations, as well as in CTA and LST-1 consortia. VHE group at OAR is also the leading group of the PNRR-CTA+ project aimed at the costruction of LST telescopes at CTA Southern site. 

The research activity that the succesfull candidate is expected to carry out: 

- collection, inspection and validation of the configuration parameters necessary for simulations of atmospheric showers and their detection using Cherenkov telescopes;
- massive production of the aforementioned simulations through the use of the CoRSiKa+sim_telarray software chain on distributed computing systems;

- testing and validation of the products of such simulations by writing appropriate software tools; - application of these simulation products to the reduction of data coming from new generation Cherenkov telescopes for the study of gamma ray sources falling within the topics of interest of the VHE@OAR group (extragalactic gamma astrophysics, gamma astrophysics of transient sources, gamma astrophysics fundamental and exotic);

- application of these simulation products to the optimization of the performance and observation procedures of Cherenkov telescopes for the study of gamma ray sources falling within the topics of interest of the VHE@OAR group.
