Descripción/Description:

The University of Granada (UGR) announces a post-doctoral position to work on the Calar Alto Void Integral-field treasureY project: CAVITY (https://cavity.caha.es) led by the extragalactic group of the Theoretical physics and Physics of the Cosmos Department of the University of Granada. CAVITY is a Calar Alto legacy survey aimed to study galaxis in voids using the integral-field spectrograph PMAS/PPaK located at the 3.5 m telescope of the Calar Alto Observatoty. The project is also pursuing observations of the CAVITY sample in CO, deep optical imaging and HI. The CAVITY project is an international collaboration comprising more than 30 researchers from 12 different institutions in 6 countries.

The CAVITY UGR group is very active in the field of galaxy evolution (https://www.ugr.es/~astrofisica/index.html). The University of Granada offers a very active and lively environment. The extragalactic group are members of the Instituto Carlos I (IC1, http://ic1.ugr.es) of the Granada University, which is a Unit of Excellence ("Unidad de Excelencia"). We also take advantage of the IC1 computer infrastructure, software and data storage for innovative and collaborative research, in particular the supercomputer Proteus for the simulation of galaxies.

The successful candidate will become a full member of the CAVITY collaboration with access to all observations and data products of the CAVITY project. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the data quality control process and in all the aspects related of the first CAVITY data release. The candidate will be able to develop his/her own science (20%) and to participate in the projects lead within the collaboration. Particular atention will be given to candidates that express interest in developing scientific links within the local and international CAVITY collaboration members.

Requirements: Ph.D. degree in Astrophysics ore related fields by the application deadline as well as experience in (1) galaxy evolution (2) Integral-field spectroscopy data analysis experience, (3) handling large databases and multiwavelength datasets.

Remuneration: The gross annual salary will be 27360 Euros, with deductions of up to 20% for income tax (IRPF).

Duration: The appointment will be for a maximum period of 2 years, in a 1+1 scheme.
