Descripción/Description:

The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC; Tenerife, Spain) invites applications for one postdoctoral contract. The position is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant project “Polarized Radiation Diagnostics for Exploring the Magnetism of the Outer Solar Atmosphere” (POLMAG; see

http://research.iac.es/proyecto/polmag/ )

The successful candidate will work on the theoretical modeling and interpretation of spectropolarimetric observations of the solar chromosphere. Of particular interest are the modeling of the unprecedented ultraviolet spectropolarimetric observations achieved by the CLASP suborbital space experiments, a series of international missions to explore the chromosphere-corona transition region in which the POLMAG group is seriously involved. Another important research activity will be the planning and interpretation of spectropolarimetric observations with large-aperture telescopes, such as the American DKI Solar Telescope (DKIST) and the future European Solar Telescope (EST).

The appointment is for 3 years. The deadline for receiving applications is October 15, 2020.
