Descripción/Description:

IAA-CSIC offers a postdoctoral contract in the framework of the Project “Severo Ochoa”. Candidates are expected to carry out their activity in the research line of Physical studies on minor bodies

Tasks:

(i) Analyze the current distribution of taxonomical classes of minor bodies and make reasonable estimations of their bulk composition.
(ii) Tie the current distribution to the possible locations before the last planetary migration and estimate the collision rate suffered by the giant planets.
(iii) Estimate the enrichment of heavy elements (as C,O,N, etc) of their atmospheres, or if a secondary atmosphere is formed and retained by the planet (i.e., it becomes steady and nowadays observable).
(iv) Continue with her/his own research, fostering collaborations with the different groups at the IAA that work on planetary atmospheres, minor bodies in the Solar System, and characterization of extra-solar planetary systems.

Requirements:

The person needed has to have a PhD title on Physical Science or Astronomy, with excellent experience in the observations of asteroids and TNOs. Experience on the publications of these data is a must. Experience in the interpretation of database information on the data for asteroids and TNOs.

Period (months): 18 months
