Descripción/Description:

The European Space Agency is seeking a Project Scientist for ARRAKIHS,
the next fast-class mission that was recently adopted in its
world-leading Science Programme. ARRAKIHS will observe the faint light
from the haloes of stars and gas around galaxies, opening a powerful
window onto cosmic history. As Project Scientist in the Office of
Science Engagement and Oversight, you will help ensure that the
mission's scientific ambition remains at the heart of its development,
operations and legacy.

You will represent ARRAKIHS science both internally within ESA and
beyond; coordinating science requirements within the mission's Science
Team, monitoring their implementation through every phase, and acting as
the key interface between internal teams, external partners and the
wider scientific community. You will optimise the mission's scientific
return within technical, financial, programmatic and safety constraints,
report progress to ESA management and advisory bodies, and help keep
ARRAKIHS visible, compelling and scientifically ambitious.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an active scientist to combine
mission leadership, international collaboration, community engagement
and personal research within ESA's Science Faculty. If you are
motivated by ambitious space science, skilled at connecting people and
ideas, and ready to champion a mission expected to launch by the end of
2030, this role offers the chance to contribute to Europe's leadership
in space science.

The position should be open for submissions in weeks 2-4 July with online interviews planned for September. We do a publicity blitz ahead of publishing the job ad on careers.esa.int. Stay tuned, because location might be Noordwijk (ESTEC) or Villanueva de la Cañada (ESAC).
