Descripción/Description:

The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) in Tenerife, Spain, announces ONE postdoctoral contract to work on topics within the project “2D spectroscopy in planetary nebulae with high abundance discrepancies” (ProID2021010074), led by Dr. Jorge García-Rojas.

The successful candidate will pursue research in the following fields:

  • Study of the physical conditions and chemical abundances in planetary nebulae and its appropriate interpretation using 2D spectroscopy.
  • Optimization of Machine Learning methods for the analysis of 2D data of photoionized nebulae.
  • Analysis and interpretation of gas kinematics in photoionized nebulae.

Particular attention will be given to applicants with experience in the reduction and trearment of Integral Field Unit data, experience in physical conditions and chemical abundances determinations in photoionized nebulae, and in the analysis of gas kinematics from IFU data. Experience in machine learning and/or photoionization modelling would be an asset.
