17 PhD positions in la Universidad de Bologna/INAF

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Bologna and the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) invite applications for their joint PhD Programme in Astrophysics: 17 fully funded positions are available this year (starting date: 1 Nov 2024).

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Bologna, together with the adjacent INAF-OAS and INAF-IRA, offers a lively and inspiring environment. Over 100 academic and research staff are involved in astrophysics research spanning all scales, actively contributing to theoretical, computational, and observational astrophysics, as well as astronomical and space technology.

The staff is involved in several international projects with world-class observing facilities and space missions (e.g. HST, ESO VLT, JWST, Gaia, Chandra, XMM-Newton, NUSTAR, ALMA, LOFAR, SKA, VLA/VLBI, Fermi, Euclid, ATHENA, PLATO, CTA, Einstein Telescope).
