Centro de Astrobiología (CAB, CSIC-INTA), Unidad de Excelencia “María de Maeztu”, is offering 10 PhD positions within the fellowship programme INPhINIT Incoming «la Caixa».

The doctoral programme is aimed at early-stage researchers of any nationality to pursue their PhD studies in the best Spanish and Portuguese research centres and units with excellence distinction. This frame is addressed exclusively to PhD research projects on STEM disciplines: life sciences and health, experimental sciences, physics, chemistry and mathematics.

Centro de Astrobiología (CAB, CSIC-INTA) – first non-US associate member of NASA’s Astrobiology Institute – is an interdisciplinary research center whose main objective is to study the origin, presence and influence of life in the universe. The 10 positions offered at the center are:

• Deep learning to analyze distant galaxies detected by the James Webb Space Telescope
• Engines of modern Astrophysics: Massive stars
• JWST Spatially Resolved Spectroscopy of Galaxies at Cosmic Dawn / JWST-GALAXY Fellow
• Molecular precursors of the RNA world in the interstellar medium
• PN Genesis: outflows, mass-loss and jet-launching
• Reconstruction of hydrogeological paleoenvironments on Mars using iteratively mapping and mechanical modeling
• Searching for molecular biomarkers in terrestrial analogues through meta-omics techniques for space exploration
• The emergence of complexity in the origin and evolution of life from the optics of complex networks
• The formation of planets in protoplanetary disks around young stars
• The link between astrophysical ice properties and Astrobiology for the preparation of the JWST and JUICE missions
