The candidate will join the Group of Planetary Atmospheres of the Terrestrial Planets (GAPT, http://w3.iaa.es/GAPT/index.php/gb/) of the Solar System Department at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucía (CSIC) in Granada (Spain) to work on atmospheric chemistry and dynamics with the measurements taken by the MIPAS/Envisat and SABER/TIMED instruments. Topics include:
• Sun-Earth coupling and trends in temperature and composition in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere by using the MIPAS and SABER extensive datasets
• Retrieval of atmospheric temperature and composition from MIPAS spectra
• Non-LTE radiative transfer modelling

Starting date is flexible but 1st July 2012 at the latest.
